ARE GENTLEMAX PRO LASER PROCEDURES PAINFUL?

The GentleMax Pro Plus offers a Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) and Zimmer options for optimal comfort during treatment. The DCD cools and protects the skin during procedures. The Zimmer delivers cold air as low as -30°C. The device is intended to minimize pain and thermal injury during laser treatments. It also provides temporary topical anesthetic relief. This combination of efficiency, versatility, and patient comfort makes the GentleMax Pro Plus a top choice for both practitioners and patients seeking effective and reliable laser treatments.

HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO COME BACK FOR MORE GENTLEMAX PRO PLUS TREATMENTS?

It really depends on your age, hair type, and the area to be treated. Some clients require six treatments, whereas others may need more. But on average, about 80 percent hair reduction is achieved after six visits. You should also know: there may be reduced hair growth for several weeks after a treatment, then you’ll experience new regrowth in certain areas. During this stage, another treatment is required.

GentleYAG Laser (GYAG)

Many people, both women and men, have unwanted hair. The GentleYAG Laser system delivers laser energy through a small device held by the practitioner. It functions by delivering a narrow, intense beam of light that is then absorbed by the skin and converted to heat which is absorbed by the cells in the specific targeted area of the face or body. The process involves focusing the laser upon a very limited area, and this direct beam does not affect the surrounding tissue – the perfect method for those who are interested in hair removal. The GentleYAG Laser can be used to resolve unwanted hair in the following areas of the body:

Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?
There are certain physical characteristics that make some people better candidates for laser hair removal than others. Specifically, we look at your skin tone and hair colour. Blonde and grey hair does not respond well to laser hair removal because of the lack of pigment in the hair follicle. However, because of the advances in laser hair-removal technology, more people can now be treated successfully.

Very light skin types are usually good candidates for laser hair removal, especially if they have darker hair. People with very dark skin tones require extra caution when performing laser hair removal. This is because the darker pigment in their skin is more susceptible to the laser wavelength used to treat hair follicles. Similarly, if you have a deep tan you might require extra caution. People with dark, coarse hair and lighter skin tones are ideal for laser hair removal.

Who cannot undergo laser hair removal?
People suffering from serious skin conditions, such as psoriasis or dermatitis, are usually not candidates for laser hair removal. In addition, pregnant women, breasting women, and people who have a pacemaker should not pursue this procedure. Individuals who take certain medications, such as Accutane and Retin-A, are also not candidates. During our patch test, we ask you to fill out a detailed form that indicates any medication and/or medical history we should be aware about.

When will I begin to see results?
Immediately after the treatment, your hair will look about the same. Over the next 7–14 days, the damaged hair follicles will push out the last remnants of the weakened hair. Thus, you will see hairless skin in a few weeks.

Is laser hair removal painful?
The pain from laser removal has always been noted significantly less than other methods like waxing. To reduce discomfort, our GentleMax Pro Plus laser machine uses a patented cooling system that sprays cryogen to deeply cool the top layer of your skin before and after every pulse of the laser. In addition, our laser technicians use ice packs to cool the area and make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

Am I required to have a consultation and undergo a patch test?
Yes, we will book a complimentary consultation appointment for you with one of our certified laser technicians prior to scheduling any laser hair-removal treatments. This is for your own protection, and we cannot make exceptions. At this time, you should also share with us any past experiences you have had with laser hair removal.

How many treatments will I need?
Most areas require six-to-eight treatments. Ideally, they should be four to six weeks apart. However, depending upon your skin tone, and hair colour and density, this may vary. Your technician will be able to provide you with a more precise estimate during your consultation.

Can I shave or wax in between treatments?
It is recommended to avoid other methods of hair removal in between treatments. This is because the more we shave/wax the more hair being stimulated. However, if it is absolutely necessary, we advise SHAVING only & keep it to a minimum. The day before your appointment, shave the area that is being treated.

How does laser hair removal compare to electrolysis?
Both laser hair removal and electrolysis are effective at permanently removing unwanted hair. However, laser hair removal is much more efficient for large areas (such as legs, chest and back) because it treats many hairs at a time. Electrolysis, on the other hand, is a more painful method that only treats one hair at a time and is therefore appropriate for small areas. This difference also makes electrolysis very expensive for larger body areas.
